The Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy is pleased to announce that the Minnesota Grown program at the MN Dept. of Agriculture has contributed $5,000 to Sow the Seeds' season extension program. "We believe that season extension is a vital strategy for expanding fruit and vegetable production in the state of Minnesota", says MDA's Paul Hugunin. "It gives our farmers the opportunity to grow their businesses and adds to the vitality of our local food system. That's good for farmers and good for consumers who appreciate fresh, locally grown produce." Minnesota Grown's contribution will support outreach and education for farmers who are interested in learning more about season extension strategies that are suited to our region.
